Can you imagine? When you retire, the President of the United States sends his best wishes. Last night on Channel 5 was one of the most touching and powerful moments in memory, akin to Johnny Carson's exit from the Tonight Show. The only thing missing was Bette Midler singing "One More For the Road." Of course, we're talking about saying goodbye to our anchor, Dick Nourse. What an extraordinary man - and newsman - he is. Grant and I have figured out that we will have to be on the air until 2035 to be on the air as long as Dick Nourse. AUUUGGGHHHHH!!!! Grant will never put up with me that long. (I'll be lucky to make it to next month.)

Grant and I talked a lot about the republican debate last night on CNN. It was fascinating watching the candidates respond to YouTube video questions on topics including the Bible and abortion and the death penalty. A pundit we interviewed this morning said she thinks Guilianni came out the winner last night, if only barely.

I'm off to speak to Murray High School's career day today. Grant and I love sharing our experience, however convoluted and unplanned it's been, with young people. Our hope is that something in our winding paths will let them know they can do it, whatever "it" is for them.

See you tomorrow for the Friday morning shout!
