Results of some big games featuring ranked teams have led to changes in the latest KSL Coaches Poll.
The defending state champions hit the road for a battle with the Wildcats in a game sure to have a playoff atmosphere. Both of these teams can make a big statement about their state title chances on Friday.No. 2 Timpview at Timpanogos, 7 p.m. Friday
Is Timpanogos for real? They are off to a 5-0 start and three of those wins are over 5A competition including Pleasant Grove. Even if they come up short against Timpview it doesn't take away from their improvement but a win on Friday would create a lot of buzz. Timpview can send a message to the rest of Region 8 that they are still king. They haven't lost a region game since 2005.Brighton at No. 3 Alta, 7 p.m.
Brighton is also off to a 5-0 start and gets a chance to make a statement Friday that they are for real. Alta is looking to bounce back from their first defeat of the season. Both teams with a lot to prove on Friday and, oh yes, this is a region game where a win will go a long way to landing a home playoff game and the 2 seed out of Region 3.Riverton at No. 4 Bingham, 7 p.m.
Bingham is hoping to re-establish their dominance in region play beginning with this battle with Riverton. The Silverwolves always play hard and hope to finally break through with a big win over the Miners who have defeated Riverton 8 consecutive times since 2004.No. 4 Stansbury at Morgan, 7 p.m.
It's only the third region game of the season for Stansbury and Morgan but there is a good chance that their meeting Friday could determine who ends up winning Region 11. A road game at Morgan looks to be the last obstacle in the way of the Stallions running away with this region and a top seed in the playoffs. Morgan has a great opportunity to make a statement against a ranked team on their home field.
Jordan holds on to the top spot in 5A after defeating Alta 36-24. Alta drops to No. 3 behind Syracuse who moves from No. 4 to No. 2 after an impressive 28-14 win over a very good Davis team in their Region 1 opener.
Bingham is now No. 4 followed by Northridge who remains No. 5.
5-0 Brighton continues to receive votes and is close to breaking into the top five.
There are no changes among the top three spots in 4A. East dominated previously 4th ranked Woods Cross 28-7 and remains No. 1 followed by Timpview and Logan who opened region play with comfortable wins.
Woods Cross drops out of the top five and their rival Bountiful moves up a spot to No. 4.

Hurricane survived a challenge from Dixie in a 34-32 thriller to remain No. 1 in 3A.
Juan Diego is back at No. 2 after a very impressive 49-7 road win at previously unbeaten Granger.
