MIDVALE, Utah, Apr 20, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- A narcotics raid of a home in Midvale, Utah, yielded a pound of methamphetamine and for bonus, two rare copies of the Book of Mormon.
The home has been suspected of operating a methamphetamine lab, reports the Salt Lake Tribune. The history books, missing since last fall from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Institute of Religion at the University of Utah, were found in the garage rafters of the residence.
"It's exciting for us," said institute director Allan Gunnerson. "It's a great day. ... You can't get a better break than this." The books -- an 1840 edition printed in Nauvoo, Ill., and an 1841 edition printed in Liverpool, England -- are together valued at about $60,000.
A 36-year-old man was being held on suspicion of possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and endangerment of a child, the report said.
