Google Chairman Eric Schmidt made an appearance at Wednesday's Motorola and Verizon's Droid event, and he shared some updated stats on Android's marketshare.
Citing comScore's latest report, Schmidt shared that Android now accounts for more than 52% of smartphones in the United States. Conversely, Apple's iOS has 33% of the U.S. market.
Globally, Android is king. Schmidt said that more than 1.3 million Android devices are now activated each day. That's an impressive number for sure -- but it's almost entirely phones.
