West Valley City, Utah - Alaska scored four straight goals breaking open a second period, 2-2, tie defeating the Utah Grizzlies 6-2 at the E-Center Friday night. The loss eliminates Utah from the ECHL's Kelly Cup playoffs after a four games to none sweep by Alaska.
Trailing 1-0 in the first, Kris Kasper knocked in a Travis Rycroft shot to make the score 1-1 at 18:16; two minutes and forty-nine seconds after Alaska took a 1-0 lead.
The Grizzlies fell behind again 36 seconds into the second period as the Aces added a power-play goal from Matt Shasby. Utah was quick to answer back again, scoring a wrap around goal from Ryan Kinasewich at 6:03.
The Aces took the lead for good when Vladimir Novak picked up a Utah turnover right in front of netminder Alfie Michaud, at 16:11 of the second period, making the score 3-2.
Alaska added three insurance goals in the third to complete the series win over Utah.
