SALT LAKE CITY - The end of the Olympics, the heart of baseball season and football training camp has produced a lot of great and a little disappointing stories over the past week. They all have at least been entertaining though.
First off everyone that hasn't heard yet, let's wish Tim Tebow a happy 25th birthday. This will come on the heels of the Jets announcing the worst-kept secret in that they will use Tebow in the "Wildcat" and have started practicing for it. That will be entertaining, and to Florida's favorite son "happy birthday."
The future of baseball:
Mike Trout is ridiculous. At this point every sports fan is probably sick of his highlights, but here is one more from his game against the Mariners. That is three in the past two weeks. He plays next to Torii Hunter, who they call Spiderman. If Hunter is Spiderman Trout is the Avengers.
He has a the power of the Hulk with 21 homers so far. The accuracy of Hawkeye with his .340 batting average. The work ethic of Captain America and is going to get money like he was Iron Man. Get used to him being around for a long time.
The only threat to his story this year might be Double-A's Billy Hamilton of the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. He has 139 stolen bases this year. One-hundred-and-thirty-nine. That is more than one a game. At this pace he will break the record of 146 in about a week. The shortstop is only 21, like Trout, and will improve. He is batting .315 this year, expect to see some highlights next week.
The future of football:
There is nothing that can be said about Andrew Luck that hasn't been said already. It's only one preseason game down, but he is as real as it gets. He has even flown under the radar with his fellow rookie and Heisman winner Robert Griffin III grabbing headlines.
Luck's first start in the NFL with the worst team in the NFL last year he went a simple 10 for 16 for 188 yards and two touchdowns, in just the first half. His first pass, while the result more of his running back Donald Brown, went for a touchdown. He even hit BYU product Austin Collie for a touchdown to make the locals have reason for optimism.
This could be the sign of things to come for a long time in a city that is used to having a pretty decent quarterback in Peyton Manning.
Oh-no Cinco:

Chad, not-Johnson not-Ocho Cinco, Johnson has quickly fallen from the good graces in the NFL. He had a contract with the Dolphins to sure up a relatively weak receiving core and just got married to Evelyn Lozada.
What a difference a week makes.
Over the weekend he reportedly headbutted his Lozada in a domestic altercation, that started over a box of condoms, and now he is without his job. To top things off Lozada has filed for divorce. The marriage didn't even last half of an ocho-cinco.
For thirty-something receivers that caught on with new teams, Randy Moss and Terrell Owens the others, Johnson seemed the best fit. Now, Moss and Owens are employed and looking to enhance their Hall of Fame credentials and Johnson might be stuck to being really funny on Twitter every Sunday.
Behold the power of memes:
Maroney Meme's
Where hasn't Mckayla Marony been over the past week. During the team gymnastics competition she was in the heart of everyone in America for her amazing vault. Then she was in our tears as her fall in the individual event cost her a gold. Now she is giving her disappointing smirk all over the world in the latest viral meme.
From the Sistine Chapel to a double rainbow, this girl just can't be impressed anymore. And why should she be, she was clearly the best in the world. She was so good in fact that she had a chance to win gold after falling in one of two vaults. That is like making it to the Superbowl with no offense.
She is the far superior vaulter on most days, but on the most important day she slipped and fell. Now all she has is a meme that scrolls for pages on Google. Bad for her not bad for the rest of America.
