SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Lawrence Borha scored a career-high 20 points and Utah won its debut under new coach Jim Boylen, beating South Carolina-Upstate 86-52.

The Utes had five players score in double figures and held the Spartans to 28 percent shooting and forced 18 turnovers in Boylen's first game as a head coach.

Bobby Davis scored 13 points to lead the Spartans in their first game as a Division I team, but they could not cope with the bigger Utes.

Utah had runs of 11-0 and 13-0 in the first half, grabbed nearly three times as many rebounds, and led by 24 points at halftime.

The Spartans never got closer than 21 points after that, even though the Utes committed 20 turnovers.

Luke Payne added 12 for the Spartans.
