It was a rocky start for many KSL listeners this morning who regularly ride Trax trains. There was a power problem in the line that required replacement of some cable. Trains did not get running until after 7:00. We sent out a text message to let all of our listeners know (text the word "news" to 57500 if you want the breaking news texts)about the trains shutting down. Then we sent another text when the trains were back up and running. Whenever we do send texts, we inevitably get a few of these replies.
"!!#$##@$@ you! Stop sending me texts."
Just "stop" would suffice.
We talked about some quirky stories this morning, including this one about what to do with your old prescriptions.
Mixing leftover medicine with cat litter is the new advice on getting rid of unused medications. Preferably used cat litter. It's said to be better for the environment than flushing. And it renders dangerous medicines too yucky to try if children, pets or drug abusers stumble through the trash. Prescription drug abuse is on the rise, and research suggests more than half of people who misuse those drugs get them for free from a friend or relative. So, thousands of pharmacies around the country have signed up for a government pilot project. When patients fill prescriptions for a list of abuse-prone medicines, the pharmacist also will hand over a flyer urging them to take the cat-litter step if they don't wind up using all their pills. Not a cat owner? Old coffee grounds work, or dog poo, even sawdust.
Just think - after today - we'll still be talking about vouchers. (Just kidding.) Not that this issue isn't important, but we hear you when you tell us how sick of this story you are. Hang in there - the polls close at 8:00 PM.
