Well, she really didn't. If you were reading the intro on the main page, I was just trying to hook you. If you're seeing this, I guess it worked.

Yes, it has been a random week in the world of football. There was the near trampling with this cheerleader from Auburn Riverside in Washington state. Some snarky newsroom observers noted the team was well-coached, because it didn't stop until it heard the whistle blow. The girl turned out alright.

Weirder than that story ... how about that 15-lateral game-ender, leading to a 28-24 Trinity win over Millsaps. The Stanford band wasn't on the field, but the play is probably one of the most improbable at any level ... ever. It wasn't "One Shining Moment" for broadcasting. Listen to the call and you'll hear what I mean.

Meanwhile ... the strange college football season continues. Notre Dame is still bad. Charlie Weis' nose continues to run. UCONN might be the best team in the Big East, until West Virginia comes to town. Arizona State and Boston College are still undefeated, and Michigan still lost to Appalachian State in the opener. Phew!

Well, the Wolverines will get the last laugh when they keep the Ohio State Luckeyes from playing for a national title. Who's up for Oregon vs West Virginia in the BCS Championship Game?
