Between the influence the archery book and material on Ishi, the last American Indian to have lived outside of European American influences, Doug started his hobby and then business of making bows and arrows. The rest is an incredible history of a company with world impact for three generations.
In 1939, Doug Easton introduced the archery world to the Easton aluminum arrow that revolutionized the archery industry worldwide. The arrow was so extraordinary that some folks tried to outlaw it. In the 80s the aluminum arrow started being made with composite the carbon fiber on the outside was introduced, and Jas. D. Easton purchased Hoyt Archery.
In 1996, Easton showcased the X10 arrow which has been used to win Olympic Games ever since. To put it into perspective, out of the 128 Olympic archers at the Beijing Games, . 127 used Easton arrows. Greg Easton, third generation and president of this remarkable company, said growing up in this business, he always thought what a great opportunity he has to be a part of Easton. Greg credits, James, his father, for his visionary contribution to the advancement and respect of archery in the summer Olympics.
Greg is involved with the Jas D. Easton holding company and The Easton Foundations which have been instrumental in bringing to Ogden, Utah for the last three years the Archery World cup. This year the last qualifying event for London will be in June.
