OverviewIn this Sunday Edition: a Conversation with United States Congressman Jim Matheson. He's campaigning in a new district with new boundaries and he faces a challenger drawing a lot of national attention. Plus, more and more soldiers are returning from active duty with debilitating memories of war. See how agencies like the police are preparing for the increased likelihood the veterans they encounter will be confronting PTSD all in this Sunday Edition.

Segment 1

It's easy to make the case that the most interesting political race in Utah this year --and one of the most interesting in the country--is the race for Congress in Utah's new 4th District.

Jim Matheson, who has been elected six times in the 2nd District,(frequently as the only Democratic winner in a major Utah race) is in a new game. Redistricting took most of his old district away — a district with even more Republicans than his old one. So, he jumped the fence to run as a candidate in a district he doesn't live in.

Representative Jim Matheson joined us to discuss his campaign.

Segment 2

More than 2 million Americans soldiers — including 15,000 from Utah — have served in Afghanistan and Iraq. Many return home with debilitating memories of war and a condition called Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

So now, agencies like the police are training for the increased likelihood that veterans will be confronting PTSD.

News Specialist Peter Rosen shared an exclusive report. We also discussed the issue further with a VA psychologist and war veteran living with PTSD.
