Never before has more than one Utahn represented the state in the annual U.S. Army All-American Bowl football game in San Antonio.
This year, there will be three.
The East vs. West game in the Alamodome on Jan. 5, 2008, to be televised nationally by NBC, will feature Bingham's Austin Holt and Justin Sorensen and Cottonwood's Lynn Katoa, organizers announced today at a news conference at Cottonwood High.
Katoa has been called the country's second-best middle linebacker prospect and Holt has been called the second-best tight end in the nation. Sorensen, who recently kicked a state-record 61-yard field goal, is easily the best kicker in state history.
Katoa received his West jersey at a ceremony at his school on Monday. Holt and Sorensen will receive the same treatment on Wednesday at 9 a.m. at Bingham.
