UC Davis QB Passes for 295 Yards in Win Over Southern Utah

CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) -- Matt Engle passed for 295 yards and three touchdowns to lead UC Davis to a 41-21 win over Southern Utah on Saturday.

Brandon Tucker rushed for 119 yards and two touchdowns for the Aggies (3-5, 1-2 Great West), who had lost three straight before beating the winless Thunderbirds (0-7, 0-1).

Wes Marshall passed for 237 yards and two touchdowns for Southern Utah (0-7, 0-1).

The Thunderbirds kept it close through three quarters. After Tucker scored on a 1-yard run for UC Davis, Johnny Sanchez answered with a 3-yard scoring run for Southern Utah with 4:03 left in the period.

Marshall threw a 48-yard touchdown pass to Jeremy Edwards midway through the fourth quarter that brought the Thunderbirds within 28-21, but Engle added a 27-yard touchdown pass to Grant Bakari and Jeremy Scott clinched it with a 38-yard interception return for a touchdown with 2:33 left.
