LOGAN — It may not be exactly what they were hoping for at the start of the season, but the Utah State Aggies will, in fact, be playing for a championship Wednesday night.
After winning its last four games, Utah State (21-15) will face Mercer (26-11) for the CollegeInsider.com Tournament (CIT) crown at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum in Logan.
The what? CIT?

Radio: Aggie Sports Network
"To be honest, I had no idea what the CIT even was," Glenn Swan, ksl.com's Senior Web Developer and an avid Aggie fan said. "The only thing that really made me take notice was that the Aggies are in the finals."
While it may not be what kids dream about when they are playing street ball on their parents' driveway, the CIT gives the Aggies a chance to salvage what was otherwise just an average season.
The Aggies struggled through much of the regular season. They lost at home to the Denver Pioneers. They lost to the Seattle Redhawks and the Pacific Tigers. They even lost to Texas A&M. No, not the Aggies from the Big-12 (soon to be SEC), but the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Islanders from the Southland Conference (without doing a Google search, who can name another team from the Southland Conference?).
But all that has changed. Utah State has won seven out of its last eight games, including a spotless 4-0 record in the CIT.
"The snowball is rolling right now," senior forward Morgan Grim told the Deseret News after the Aggies' 105-81 CIT semifinal win over Oakland. "We are playing good; we are playing with some energy. It's showing in practice and it's carrying over to the games."
Win or lose tonight, the Aggies should be proud for how they have regrouped, turning what was just a very average season into a successful postseason run.
Tip-off for the CIT Championship is at 7:00 pm in Logan.
