OREM — Utah Valley University's men's basketball team will make school history on Tuesday night when the Wolverines play at Weber State in the first round of the 2012 CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament. It will be the program's first postseason basketball game since UVU become a Division I school.

The game tips at 7 p.m. at the Dee Events Center in Ogden and can be heard live on 960AM the Zone and at WolverineGreen.com.

UVU is 20-12 overall and went 9-1 to win its second straight Great West Conference championship, while Weber State, at 24-6, has more wins than any other team in the CIT.

The Wolverines are led by Isiah Williams' 16.1 points per game and Geddes Robinson's 10.4 rebounds, which also ranks 13th nationally. Both players were named to the All-Great West Conference first team last week. Damian Lillard leads the Wildcats and ranks second in the country with 24.5 points per game.

"Weber State has had a memorable season," said UVU head coach Dick Hunsaker, himself an alumnus of Weber State University in 1977. "Lillard is an elite player. They have multiple scoring weapons and cause a lot of matchup problems."

Lillard was named the USWBA District VIII Player of the Year and Big Sky Conference MVP. Scott Bamforth is averaging 14.5 ppg for Weber State. The Wildcats finished second in both the Big Sky Conference regular season and in the conference tournament.

Utah Valley last played on Friday, falling in overtime, 88-78, against NJIT in the semifinals of the Great West Tournament in Chicago. Williams scored 26 points, Holton Hunsaker — a second-team all-conference selection — added 20 and Robinson finished with 10 points and 16 rebounds.

The Wolverines and Wildcats are two of three Utah teams in the 32-team CIT field. Utah State is the other. Also competing is Great West foe North Dakota, which secured the tournament's only automatic bid by winning the GWC Tournament last weekend in Chicago. UVU has played four teams appearing in this year's CIT: Georgia State, North Dakota, Oakland and Utah State.
