In this the 9th year of the MWC, BYU has a 3-game lead on second place for the best record in conference games. BYU is now 40-20--second place Utah is 37-23.

Interestingly, BYU has a better MWC road record than it does a home record. In MWC play, the Cougars are 21-9 on the road, and 19-11 at LES.

The worst team since the inception of the Mountain West Conference: UNLV, with the worst winning percentage in league play (28%), and overall (34%). The Rebels are 17-43 in conference competition, and 34-65 overall. UNLV has exactly one winning record in the last 12 seasons, and 3 winning seasons since 1986.

Six of Bronco Mendenhall's 10 losses have come in September (September record: 7-6). In October, Bronco is 6-2, and in November, his teams are 6-1. In December bowl games, he's 1-1.

Of the 13 first-time FBS head coaches hired in 2005, Bronco has the best record. Charlie Weis is second at 20-11.

With a win at UNLV, BYU will set a new MWC record for consecutive conference wins, with 11. Currently, BYU shares the record with Utah and Colorado State. BYU's record for consecutive WAC wins was 25, and its WAC record for consecutive away wins was 16.

Max Hall is on pace for the most prolific sophomore passing yardage tally in BYU history. Ty Detmer leads the way with 4,560 yards. If BYU plays in 13 games, and Max maintains his 352 ypg average, he would end the year with 4,576 yards.

Max also leads all national sophomores in total offense per game--Florida's Tim Tebow is second to Hall (353.4 to 325.8).

Ten of the Preseason Top 25 teams are nop longer ranked, and two of them already have 3 losses (Louisville and TCU). Only four of the Preseason Top 25 teams are still undefeated.
