WEST VALLEY CITY — Will Cannon had 24 points leading Olympus into the 4A state championship game with a 64-51 win over Provo.
Provo took a 1-point lead into the locker room at halftime. They were led by Adam Finch who 14 points and Jonathan Flake who had a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds.
Momentum changed in the 2nd half thanks to the play of Olympus forward Will Cannon. He found a way to get easy baskets in the paint and drew fouls to get to the free throw line. He was a perfect 12 for 12 from the line. The Titans shot 52 percent in the 2nd half and for the game were 5 of 9 from the 3-point line. Defensively they held Provo to just 37 percent shooting and went to line 32 times compared to 12 trips to the line by Provo.
Olympus also got a big contribution from their guards. Nick Barney and Stuart Pace combined to score 26 points and shoot 8-16 from the field and 3 for 3 from the 3-point line.
Olympus will face the winner of Orem and Bountiful in Saturday's 4A state championship game that begins at 1:30pm.
