SALT LAKE CITY — Last year, Jimmermania swept the country by storm. Last fall, Tim Tebow led the Denver Broncos to several dramatic comebacks that made him the talk of the sports world. Last week, the newest sports phenomenon was born: Linsanity.

Jeremy Lin didn't get a scholarship offer out of high school. He went undrafted after college and was waived in the NBA by the Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets. He made the New York Knicks roster this season, but spent time in the D-League. Thanks to injuries, Lin finally got a chance to prove himself last week, and he made the most of it.

He scored 25 points against New Jersey, 28 against the Utah Jazz and logged 23 points and 10 assists against the Wizards.

Kobe Bryant seemed to be the only person in the country who wasn't aware of Lin's breakout performances. He would learn first hand last Thursday. Lin scored 38 points against Kobe and the Lakers leading the Knicks to a 93-85 victory.

Lin's performance blew up Twitter and took his popularity to another level.

No player in NBA history has scored more points in their first four career starts than Jeremy Lin. The Knicks haven't loss since he became their starting point guard.

While he is adjusting to his newfound fame, he is still crashing on teammate Landry Field's couch. Seriously.

Bad Weather Pitch

Derek Holland is a starting pitcher for the Texas Rangers and played an important role in the team's back-to-back World Series appearances. He recently made an appearance on WFAA in Dallas, relieving weatherman Pete Delkus during a newscast. Delkus doesn't have to worry about losing his job, but Holland certainly delivered a memorable performance. Hilarious!

How to beat a full court press

I've seen a lot of full court buzzer beaters online, but I have never seen anything like this.

The Vinita (OK) Hornets were leading by 10 points with one second left, when Garret Maxey threw a full court pass that bounced once and into the hands of Jake Bullard, who dunked the ball as time expired. It didn't show great sportsmanship, but it sure did give the world a memorable and unique highlight.

Hair club for Carlos

I'm not sure what Carlos Boozer is doing to the top of his head, but his lettuce looks a lot different than it did during his time in Utah. Take a look at this photo and you can be the judge.

Whitney and the Super Bowl

Most everyone by now has heard the sad news that Whitney Houston passed away on Saturday. Her rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner at Super Bowl XXV is considered by many to be the greatest anthem performance of all-time. Her performance came just days after the Persian Gulf War began.
