CHICAGO (AFX) -- Media stocks were under pressure Tuesday, with most closing to the downside, albeit to varying degrees.
All the big conglomerates, ended in the red, but often not by much. Disney lost 2 cents to $27.77 while News Corp. dropped a dime to $17.91 and Viacom edged down 5 cents to $38.31. Time Warner slipped 2 cents to $16.86 and CBS fell more than 1% to $24.60.
Among newspaper-based companies, New York Times was flat at $25.13 and Knight Ridder gave up about half a percent to $62.69 while Dow Jones , the publisher of this report, fell 1.5% to $38.
The ever-volatile satellite radio companies, headed in different directions earlier on, finished up on the same side with Sirius losing 1.1% to $5.23 while XM fell 2.3% to $22.82.
