SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The Utah Jazz are running out of time to make a late run at the playoffs.
The Jazz fell to 35-and-39 last night with a 95-to-86 loss to the San Antonio Spurs. Utah could have made up some valuable ground, because the two teams ahead of the Jazz in the playoff race also lost.
The Jazz are 2-and-a-half games behind Sacramento for the final playoff spot. The Kings would own the tiebreaker if the teams finish with the same record. New Orleans is also slightly ahead of the Jazz, but the tiebreaker with the Hornets hasn't been decided yet.
Utah has eight games remaining. The Jazz say there is still a chance to move up to the Number-eight spot in the playoffs by the end of the regular season.
The Jazz play at Minnesota on Friday, then three straight at home.
