NEW YORK, Mar 30, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- A former fashion reporter for the Times of London has lost her U.S. book deal amid charges of plagiarism, it was reported Thursday.
Emily Davies, 28, was paid more than $500,000 in advance of her book, but a spokeswoman for Scribner told the New York Daily News the publisher has pulled out of the deal.
Davies' agent could not be reached for comment.
Women's Wear Daily said parts of Davies' book proposal appeared in work written by New Yorker Monique Yazigi, the News said.
Publishers Weekly Editor Charlotte Abbott said the industry is much more guarded since the recent scandal involving author James Frey and fabrications in his so-called memoir.
"I think agents will start asking a lot more questions of their authors," Abbott told the News.
