(KSL News) -- A famous television host has opened a center to help families deal with Alzheimers Disease.
Leeza Gibbon's mother and grandmother died of the debilitating illness. Knowing the challenges cargivers face when dealing with memory disorders, Gibbons decided to create a retreat for cargivers.
Leeza Gibbons, Leeza Gibbons Memory Foundation: "Caregivers are falling apart at the seams. I mean, they're at the breaking point, many of them. There's not enough support, there's not enough information, there's not enough, kind of, ability for them to just go, 'I'm not alone.' And they're not alone."
Leeza's Place aims to educate, empower and energize caregivers. There are also scrapbooking rooms to preserve precious memories, and programs to help recall and record their histories on videotape.
Leeza's Place has six locations across the country and there are plans to add more.
