This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

Women-owned and women-targeted businesses are a powerful economic force in the United States. The number of U.S. businesses grew by 34 percent between 1997 and 2011, while the number of women-owned businesses increased by 50 percent! This is a big deal since experts estimate there are over 8 million women-owned businesses in the U.S. You can add Dear Lizzie to that list.

This Highland boutique and bistro is designed to be exactly "what a girl wants." It's destination shopping at its finest, a mixture of modern and vintage styles to put customers at their ease with beautiful displays and unique merchandise. Owner Laura Jarman has visitors from out of town tell her all the time how much they love visiting Dear Lizzie.

The boutique carries everything from custom home décor to apparel to the finest bath and body products you will find. The children's area has plenty of gift items and special occasion wear. Right now you'll find a beautiful collection of holiday décor, including Christmas tree ornaments and trimmings. If you love jewelry, you've got to see their selection.

In talking with Laura, I learned Dear Lizzie represents over 10 years of planning and the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. She always wanted a business that meant something to her, and it was a topic she thought about constantly as she raised her four children. It was all a matter of figuring out exactly the right timing. She's been successful enough that a couple years ago she was named Entrepreneur of the Year in Utah County.

In case you'd like to eat out while shopping, Dear Lizzie also has a bistro that serves lunch daily from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The clink of glasses adds to the ambience of the shopping experience. They offer a great selection of handmade treats and candies. One of their specialties is sugar cookies with pink frosting and the Dizzie Lizzie. This is a cream soda with whipped cream and a cherry on top. Customers love it!

For Zions Bank, I'm Chris Redgrave, speaking on business.
