(KSL News) -- A common herb used to spice up baked potatoes might fight off food poisoning.

Reseachers at North Carolina found that antibodies in chive extracts acutally fight a dozen strains of salmonella. Salmonella is a leading cause of foodborne illness.

Scientists say eating chive extract might help guard the body against food poisoning.
