PROVO -- The BYU Cougars took on the Aggies of New Mexico State University on senior night and the Y managed to get just about everyone involved in the 42-7 win.

BYU's defense came out and caused some headaches for the NMSU offense right away.

"Great hit to force and recover a fumble. I cringed and laughed at the same time," tweeted jenniball91.

Jake Heaps and the offense then came out onto the field and quickly turned the forced fumble into six points. The offense got the ball down inside the 5-yard-line and senior Bryan Kariya got into the endzone for the last time in Lavell Edwards stadium.

"Sweet bunny-hop TD for Kariya," tweeted limsteph.

The NMSU offense has been butting up some big numbers, but the BYU D shut them down. NMSU managed one TD, but that's all Kyle Van Noy and the rest of the D would allow.

"A sac by Kyle Van Noy! He is the only player in the NCAA with a stat in every defensive category and a blocked punt," tweeted byutvsports.

Van Noy didn't wear his regular number 3; instead he decided to honor a fellow player who missed his senior night.

"Kyle Van Noy wearing #1 in honor of Jordan Pendleton. Props to KVN!" tweeted tysonsnow.

The Cougars D continued to stifle NMSU and the BYU offense finally got its legs under it and started to roll. Jake Heaps had a career high 4 TD's, one of which going to a senior who spent most of his BYU days on the scout team.

"Heaps throws a TD pass to senior TE Matt Edwards, grandson of LaVell, late in the 3rd quarter," tweeted TheUpsetBlog. "Cool moment for him."

Edwards wasn't the only senior to get his first TD of his career Saturday night.

"Matt Marshall the short 2 yd TD run out of the wildcat formation," commented KSL NewsRadio's Andrew Adams.

BYU continued to roll and made sure the seniors final night was a memorable one as the Cougars protected Lavell's house with a 42-7 victory.

The Cougars have another bye week and then will travel to the Aloha state to take on the Hawaii Warriors on December 3.
