Southern Utah blasted by S. Illinois, 44-10

CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) -- Nick Hill passed 252 yards and four touchdowns, leading Southern Illinois to a 44-10 win over Southern Utah on Saturday.

Larry Warner gained 92 yards on 20 carries and Deji Karim ran for two touchdowns for the Salukis (3-0).

Wes Marshall rushed for 123 yards and passed for 150 for Southern Utah (0-3), which has allowed 118 points while scoring four touchdowns this season.

Southern Illinois held the Thunderbirds to 287 yards of offense while gaining 500. Southern Utah picked up 136 yards in the fourth quarter after the outcome was all but certain.

Hill threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Justin Allen and a 24-yarder to Lucien Walker in a two-minute stretch late in the first quarter to give the Salukis a 21-0 lead. He added a 14-yard touchdown to Rick Burgess midway through the second quarter, giving Southern Illinois a 28-3 halftime lead.

Steve Pulver kicked a 52-yard field goal for Southern Utah. Marshall threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to Jeremy Edwards with 4:21 to play.
