ROME, Mar 23, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- A precious statue from Roman poet Horace's famed Sabine farm will be back in its old place of prestige next month.

The herm, or archaic head on a square block -- its name was taken from the Greek god Hermes -- was stolen from the farm near Rome in 1977 and turned up on the German antiquities market in the 1990s, ANSA said.

It was acquired by a German regional museum for about $12,000, a fraction of what it would have brought had its provenance been known.

Experts recently identified it and authorities picked it up for return to its rightful place.
