LOGAN — Utah State's men's basketball team concluded its first full week of practice with a closed scrimmage Saturday morning in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum as veteran head coach Stew Morrill ran his team through five 10-minute sessions.

Brady Jardine led Utah State during the scrimmage with 18 points, 11 rebounds, three steals, two assists and one blocked shot as the senior forward was 8 of 13 from the field and 2 for 2 at the free throw line.

Senior guard Brockeith Pane added 14 points, five assists and three steals as he was 3 of 9 from the field, including 2 of 3 from 3-point range, and a perfect 6 for 6 at the free throw line.

USU’s third senior on the roster, forward Morgan Grim, also played well as he had 5 of 9 shooting for 10 points to go along with eight rebounds.

Preston Medlin, a sophomore guard who redshirted last year at Utah State, finished with 16 points as he was 7 of 14 from the field and 2 of 8 from 3-point range.

Utah State also got double-figure scoring from a pair of newcomers in junior forward Kyisean Reed and freshman guard Adam Thoseby. Reed, a transfer from Antelope Valley (Calif.) JC, had 15 points, eight rebounds, four steals, three blocked shots and two assists, as he was 6 of 9 from the field and 3 for 5 at the free-throw line.

Thoseby, who played at Maine Central Institute Prep School a year ago, scored 14 points as he was 5 of 17 from the field and 4 of 12 from behind the arc.

Other notable performers from Saturday include junior forward Igor Premasunac, a transfer from Lon Morris (Texas) JC, who scored eight points and grabbed six rebounds, while sophomore forward Mitch Bruneel, a transfer from the College of Southern Idaho, had seven points and five rebounds.

Overall, Utah State shot 43.2 percent from the field (54-125) during the scrimmage, including 25 percent from three-point range (10-40) and 76.9 percent at the free-throw line (20-26). The two teams also combined for 31 assists, 36 turnovers, 17 steals and six blocked shots.

Utah State will hold its final dress rehearsal of the preseason on Wednesday with its annual Blue-White scrimmage, sponsored by Macey's, at 7 p.m. The scrimmage is free to the public and doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Utah State's first exhibition game of the year will be on Friday against UC San Diego at 7 p.m.
