Mar 16, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Police plan to seize the passport of Mira Markovic, the wife of the former Serbian strongman Slobodan Milosevic, when she arrives for his funeral.
The District Court in Belgrade has issued a warrant demanding a March 23 court appearance. The warrant was sent to police stations at border crossings, including the capital's airport, Belgrade media said Thursday.
Markovic is expected to attend a private funeral for Milosevic Saturday in their hometown, Pozarevac, 50 miles east of Belgrade.
If Markovic fails to appear before the court, she would be detained and taken into custody, a court official said.
Markovic was being sought on corruption charges before she fled the country and settled in Moscow in March 2003.
Milosevic died of a heart attack Saturday in the Hague where was being tried by the U.N. International Court on genocide and war chime charges in the former Yugoslavia.
