PITTSBURGH - Utah came a way with a victory in this week's matchup against Pittsburgh. The game was a defensive battle with only one offensive touchdown. The Utes' won 26-14.
Here is some of what was taking place on Twitter during the game:
Utah got on the board first after coming up short in the red zone. Coleman Peterson was called on early and put the Utes up 3-0. Pitt answered back on the kickoff with a 98 yard return by Buddy Jackson.
Spencer Checketts said, "There's a reason Urban Meyer always insisted on coaching special teams. Pitt gets first kick return for TD in six years. Horrible tackling."
Moments later Utah went to punt ball out of their own end zone and the punt was blocked, resulting in another Pittsburgh touchdown.
Brian Joyce tweeted, "The Utes are the medicine for any team that needs to get better."
Through out the game Pittsburgh brought the house, putting tremendous pressure on back-up quarterback Jon Hays.
Ben Wilkinson tweeted, "how awesome is it to have qb who can't realize a blitz is coming and make the appropriate changes at the line of scrimmage."
David James tweeted, "Pitt's defense is in the Utes backfield on every snap. Corner blitzes are eating the #Utes alive."
The Utes finished the drive with a field goal putting the game at 14-6.
Utah got the ball back on a bad punt right before the end of the half and capitalized on the great field possession with a Hays' tipped pass that fell into the hands of Luke Matthews that he took in for a touchdown.
Bubba Brown tweeted, "#Utes desperately needed fluky play like that to go in their favor. They're back in it, and haven't allowed the Pitt O to do anything so far."
At the end of the first half Utah trailed by one, 14-13.
On the first drive of the second half Utah picked up another field goal.
David James tweeted, "For all the sp. teams failures, Coleman is 3-3 on a windy day. I've watched NFL kickers struggle with swirling winds there. #Utes lead 16-14."
Utah's defense really began to shine and the offense, led by running back John White, started to dominate the time of possession.
Bubba Brown tweeted, "Fair to say this is the best game of John White's #Utah career. He's been the difference in the game up to this point."
That set up yet another Utah field goal for Coleman Petersen, putting the Utes up 19-14.
With seven minutes to go in the game, Utah forced a fumble on 3rd and long, giving the Utah the ball back with 7 minutes left in the game.
Robert Jackson tweeted, "Utah with two near turnovers within 3 plays. Fumble on kickoff and near interception by Chaz Walker. Then Joe Kruger forces Sunseri fumble."
Utah was sacked for big loss and committed a costly personal foul. On the attempted punt and a bad snap, Pitt got the ball back on their own 48 with another chance to win the win the game. The last chance drive for Pitt was stopped with a Ute interception that was returned for a touchdown, extending the Utes' lead to 26-14.
Robert Jackson tweeted, "Derrick Shelby just won the game for the Utes. Picks off Anderson pass and returns it for the TD."
Utah came out with a victory in a defensive game.
David Locke of 1320 KFAN tweeted, "Good win by Utah - Defense was unreal - No one else had been able to expose Pitt in this fashion - HUGE PERFORMANCE BY UTAH D."
