NEW YORK, Mar 14, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Random House is poised to release the bestselling "The Da Vinci Code" in the largest first printing of an adult paperback book.

Five million paperback versions of the book, which sold 43 million hardcover copies, will flood the market March 28, The Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday.

"Five million paperbacks is a lot, but I think they'll do fine with this," Publishers Weekly Editor in Chief Sara Nelson told the Times. "They'll go after the people who don't want to spend $22.95 on a hardcover, and there are a lot of people like that out there."

The Tom Hanks film adapted from Dan Brown's book is due out May 12 and Sony Pictures plans to hook its wagon to the soft-cover book launch.

The trailer for the film will start showing on the same date along with billboards as well.

"What's good for the book is good for the movie," a Sony spokeswoman said.
