Ordering a refill on your prescription meds at Walgreens can now be as easy as texting a single word. The drugstore chain already has a service that sends texts to remind customers when a prescription is ready for pick-up. And earlier today it announced a new feature, Refill Reminder Text Alerts, that sends a text to enrolled customers when their meds are due for a topping off. If the customer needs a refill, they just text back the word "refill." The Deerfield-based drugstore chain already has a number of mobile applications, including one that lets mobile phone users order refills by scanning the barcode on a bottle. The company said more than 25 percent of its online prescription refills are ordered through mobile applications and more than 2 million consumers are enrolled in a service that sends a text message alert when prescriptions are ready for pick-up.
