The Great Salt Lake is considered by many to be one of the most important and popular waterfowl spots in the Inter-mountain West. According to the DWR, there are over 250 species of birds that take advantage of the lake for its migratory and breeding corridors. Our question this week.
Where do most of Utah's ducks migrate from?
According to Ducks Unlimited a signigicant portion of our ducks migrate to us from Alaska and the Prairie Pothole Region, also referred to as "the duck factory." This area comprises about 276,000 square miles, including parts of three Canadian provinces and five U.S. states.
