NEW YORK, March 9, 2006 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Being pregnant has suddenly become fashionable! And that's great for Liza Elliott-Ramirez, owner of Expecting Models, Inc. the only SAG-franchised agency dedicated exclusively to pregnant and nursing models, actresses and their babies. As public interest explodes with interest into the lives and habits of pregnant A-list celebs such as Angelina Jolie, Gwen Stefani, Heidi Klum, Britney Spears, Gwyneth Paltrow, and recent Academy Award winner, Rachel Weisz, then so does the demand for Expecting Models! With pregnancy going more mainstream, the agency's client list is rapidly growing, including Liz Lange, The Gap, Old Navy, Target, Bloomingdales, Sex and the City, and Verizon to name a few.

Elliott-Ramirez has become quite the 'maternity expert' sharing her expertise on everything pregnancy including style, fashion, health, nutrition, and well being for expecting mothers on national media outlets such as Access Hollywood, People, The Today Show, The View, and Good Morning America with Diane Sawyer.

"Until recently it wasn't 'hip' being pregnant. But that's because there were never any cool clothes for expecting moms," laughs Elliott-Ramirez, a former model and mother of two, who saw the need for a such an agency when she found herself still working late into the pregnancy of her first child. "Pregnant women represent a major spending force as women are waiting much later in their professional careers to give birth. As a result, they have much higher salaries, savings, stocks, bonds, and designer tastes than previous generations. These days women aren't giving up their Prada, Gucci and $200 jeans just because they're pregnant!" And the market has had to adapt. Many retailers and top designers are expanding their collections to include maternity. At just about every awards show this season, our favorite music and film stars showed up on the red carpet in 'maternity couture!'

Elliott-Ramirez is proud of her ground breaking work in the field and recently executive produced a pregnancy themed, verite-style daytime series for Discovery Health channel, called Runway Moms. The show, in it's first season, airs weekdays at 8:00am, 2:00 and 4:00pm and explores the unique stories of pregnant models and their dramatic journey from the runway to the delivery room.

With Expecting Models, Runway Moms and future ventures, Elliott-Ramirez' goal is to help shape the way that pregnant women are seen and portrayed in the media. "I've been able to make a difference for women who can now make a living while pregnant and earn two incomes the baby's first year -- one for mama and one for baby!" Now that's women's liberation!
