Coco Warner Reporting We've found love this month in some fairly interesting places. Speed-dating, on a cruise, via the Internet.
We've also learned more about how to keep love, and then how to cope, if you don't.
Love is one of those subjects that you could probably talk about forever, let alone a month. But, in this last month, I've tried to follow the natural progression-- finding, falling, keeping and finally, losing love. Mixed in there was also the cost of love-- but, while the price at times is high-- it's always worth it!
Maybe a speed-dating venue is the RIGHT place-- just hope it's a case of love at first sight!
Jennifer/Speed-dater: "I'm having a ball. It is so much fun. Six minutes goes by really fast, so you do know right away the ones you're interested in seeing again and the ones you're not interested in seeing again."
You could always advertise your eligibility on a billboard.
Lance Archibald: "I've told everyone throughout this, it takes a lot of energy to be a bad sport. It's a lot easier to be a good sport."
Or what about the Internet? The Dreschers met on LDSPromise.com and are now newlyweds!
Bryce Drescher: "Someone said, 'Oh, you've found true love.' I don't think I found true love. I found my best friend and we've made true love."
Or if you're only interested in loving somebody for a week--we have a cruise to recommend!
Scott Brady/29 years old: "Time will tell. There's a few numbers I came with."
Jarman Lyle/30 years old: "I brought back a few phone numbers, but no serious romance for the trip."
And if all of this talk of love is making you crazy-- you're not alone.
Lisa Diamond/PhD. University of Utah: "That addiction metaphor is very consistent with people's self-reported experiences, that this obsessive thinking-- just can't get the person out of your mind-- it really does in the same way an addiction does."
The song says, "Love Don't Cost a Thing." Her love may not, but your love probably will. Whether it's flowers for your sweetheart, or a wedding.
Robin Saville/Utah Brides.com: "Outside Utah most weddings are 20- to 25- thousand dollars. Within the greater Wasatch Front, certainly Salt Lake City, Park City area, mostly that falls within about a ten thousand dollar price range."
And if you are planning on tying the knot-- think about taking a class.
Barbara Smith/Dir. Utah Family Center: "This is a great class to take when you're engaged, to sit down together and decide that you're going to communicate well, that your communication is going to be open."
And if it doesn't work out-- just give yourself time.
Dr. Liz Hale/AM 820: "In the situation of loss, either with death or divorce, it just takes time, and there's no substitute for it. Just make sure you're ready."
But whatever you do, don't give up on love. It really is what makes the world go ‘round.
