Before we know it- the Closing Ceremonies will end the 2006 Winter Olympics here in Torino. Before the flame is out- it seems like a good time to take stock of some of our highlights... This picture is from my favorite weekend- Photographer Adam Moffat and I traveled with a man from Salt Lake City to the home of his ancestors in the valleys of Torre Pellice and Chisone. While I enjoy following the highs and lows of our Utah athletes, this experience was meaningful from a historical perspective. And it was the first time the sun broke through in days...and we enjoyed beautiful views of the valleys and the Torino skyline.

The Italian people have been very accomodating and generous as well and patient with my highschool level Italian! Although I am getting much better. I've eaten more pizza and pasta then I thought possible..oh and chocolate. This has been my first reporting experience overseas- and its been fun to meet folks from other NBC stations around the country. And at our workspace, we have met many of the athletes when they come by for interviews with NBC- I enjoyed interviewing Ted Ligety and his family- and this afternoon figure skater Kimmie Meissner stopped by.

NBC gave us a jacket to wear..but I like wearing the one that has KSL on it...and the reason is people from Utah have found us in places all over the city! We ran into Utahns at the Italian market on a Saturday afternoon, and another couple at the Cauldron outside the Hockey arena. It seems the Olympic spirit continues. And our KSL crew had bragging rights in the workspace because more people in Utah are watching the Olympics than anywhere else in the country! Thanks!
