Phoenix, Arizona- The Phoenix RoadRunners scored four power play goals to defeat the Utah Grizzlies 5-2 and stop Utah's winning streak at 7 games.
The Grizzlies got on the scoreboard first when Ryan Kinasewich found Louis Dumont at 13:15. But Phoenix answered back just over three minutes later as Michel Ouellet converted on the RoadRunners' first power play of the night. Ed Hill gave Utah back the lead at 17:15, with assists going to Garett Cameron and Matt Craig but Phoenix's Dave Cousineau scored with one second left in the period to tie the game going into the first intermission.
The second period was all RoadRunners. Couisneau broke the tie at 5:49 when Justin Quenneville and Michel Ouellet set him up on another power play. Ben Knopp increased the lead to 4-2 Phoenix with a power play tally of his own, just 22 seconds later. Dean Tiltgen picked up an assist on that goal. Shawn Snider added insurance for the RoadRunners when he scored the team's lone even strength goal late in the period.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the third period. Michael Mole stopped all 15 Utah shots he faced in the final frame, and 42 of 44 total shots for the win. Utah's Justin Eddy picked up 37 saves on 42 shots in the loss.
The Utah Grizzlies (29-20-4) are back in action on Wednesday, February 22, when they visit the San Diego Gulls; faceoff is at 8:05 p.m.
