Barbara Morse Silva reporting Many people are jumping on the tennis bandwagon, but it's not the tennis you're probably thinking of.

This is tennis like you've never seen it before

This workout does involve a racquet and ball but it also includes a lot of twists, and turns and, well, obstacles to overcome.

The game of cardio tennis. This is truly a team sport -- with as many as eight on a court. A fitness routine where everybody who gets through the hour and a half non stop workout is a winner.

Cardio tennis is very new. It was recently developed by the United States Tennis Association.

Mary Rompf, Class Instructor: "Well, we have a lot of different things that people do... they go through the ladder, working on agility, jumping rope, just different things with footwork and you're moving all the time so you're getting a good workout and having fun at the same time. What's unique about this program is you can, we have some seven year olds here and you can be 70 years old to do this."

You can be really good, orr really, Well, not so good.

It's just that much fun, and quite the full body workout.

And for those who can really play the game...

Mike Levy, Cardio tennis participant: "It's a workout and it's more than tennis and really it prepares you for your tennis game also, gives you that extra little umph to get to the ball and that's why cardio tennis is great for fitness."

CardioTennis is offered at Olympus High School. For more information, call 487-6399
