This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
This is a great thought, "Fresh only happens once." And spoken by someone who understands the importance of fresh: Bob Harmon, one of the owners of Harmons. He's a third-generation grocer and loves what he does.
In fact, he's turned into a real foodie and will take a team to Italy to gain a deeper understanding of cheese. Even though they check out other areas, supporting local is important to this family of grocers. I had firsthand experience of this.
At a recent visit to their brand new Station Park store in Farmington, Shauna, the store's lead Cheese Monger, pointed out the local cheese makers with great pride. In addition, she offered to slice the cheese and give customers a sample before they buy it. That's service!!
If you haven't seen what this grocery group is up to, you've got to check it out. The newest location in Farmington is not your usual grocery store. While everyone else is chasing the discounted deal, Harmons is looking for extraordinary quality at a reasonable price. Take the hand-crafted gelato for example.
As you walk in the front door, you can't help but notice the wonderful display of Italian ice cream. The Harmon family searched for the perfect machine and recipe. They've also organized an incredible meat section with gourmet burgers and a selection of artisan breads baked fresh right on location in Harmons "Certified Organic" bakery.
Upstairs the mezzanine has a beautiful kitchen complete with a chef who teaches cooking classes so good they always sell out. It's not only an attractive place to relax with tables, leather couches and a fireplace, but it also has beautiful artwork from local artists. Harmons offers a Friday night date night with live music and a four-course meal at a great price.
With three stores opening in one year, this company is on a roll. Job growth and sustainability are critical for the health of our state and national economy. Harmons now has 3,000 engaged and excited employees on board, contributing to positive job growth in Utah.
For Zions Bank, I'm Chris Redgrave, speaking on business.
