Former Westminster guard Stockton to play in Germany

SALT LAKE CITY - Michael Stockton, that is, but still, a Stockton.

The Westminster Griffin's reported Thursday that Stockton, a graduated senior and son of former NBA player John Stockton, has signed with the BG Karlsruhe Polar Bears of Germany.

The 6-1 guard is set to report for training on August 1 in Karlsruhe, Germany. BG Karlsruhe is part of the 2nd Basketball Bundesliga-Pro A organization, which is a 16-team league and finished eighth overall last season.

As a senior at Westminster, Stockton averaged 18.2 points and four rebounds. Stockton was named first team All-Frontier and third team NAIA All-American. Stockton appeared in and started all 30 games as a senior and scored an overall 545 points for the Griffins.

Stockton led the Griffins in many ways during his senior season including scoring (545), scoring average (18.2), field goal attempts (320), field goals made (174), 3-point field goal attempts (99), 3-point field goals made (36), free throw attempts (205), free throws made (161), assists (126), and steals (60).

Prior to the 2011 NBA Draft, Stockton worked out with the Utah Jazz, the second Westminster Griffin in three years to do so.
