Coco Warner Reporting There's nothing quite like a wedding. It's a day that most couples call unforgettable. But it also can be expensive.
This morning, we're looking at the cost of love, specifically, the cost of weddings.
There are all types of weddings-- from the very casual affairs to the rather posh. But chances are, if you're organizing an event that includes your family and friends, and a fancy dress, it's going to cost something.
And Utahns are starting to spend a bit more on their weddings than they used to.
Every year, plenty of Utahns visit a chapel and make a life long committment to spend their lives together. But often, they have to spend a little money-- or a lot-- to get there.
Robin Saville/Utah Brides.com: "Outside Utah, most weddings are 20 to 25 thousand dollars. Within the Wasatch, the great Wasatch Front, certainly Salt Lake City, Park City area-- mostly that falls within about a ten thousand dollar range."
The reason-- if married within the LDS faith, church and temple services are free. However, Utahns are starting to loosen their wallets a bit, but on what?
Robin Saville/Utah Brides.com: "Reception site is right up there as well. Photography and videography tends to be there at the top."
And of course, the all important dress.
Robin Saville/Utah Brides.com: "Watching the web traffic on our website, we know the first thing the bride goes after is the wedding dress."
Coco Warner/Eyewitness News: "And like many businesses, Utah Brides.com is taking advantage of just how often people turn to the internet for information."
Robin Saville/Utah Brides.com: "They're getting ideas. They're seeing what other people are doing around the world, and certainly within the United States. They want to do some of those things within their own wedding as well."
But all those ideas cost money to execute.
Robin Saville/Utah Brides.com: "What we do ry to say is plan, you save for college. Often people are saving for missions. We ask brides to be, have you ever talked to your parents about what the cost of a wedding is. Quite often, it's no."
But with some financial planning-- Utah Brides.com says if you can think it up, then they can help you take those plans and go up, up and away.
Robin Saville/Utah Brides.com: "That's every bride's dream, to make it unique and special to her."
Another trend? More focus on the food. Robin says people aren't just serving peanuts in a cup anymore.
And coming up next week-- wer'e going to look at how to keep love strong.
