Buon Giorno, Utah!
We have been in Torino for a week now. When we arrived, there was a temperature inversion just like the kind we get in Salt Lake City. The weather cleared up a few days ago and the views are beautiful. You can see the mountains from Torino but they are not as close to the city. In fact, some of the Olympic venues are about an hour and a half away in the mountains. The picture next to this blog is of Sestriere..a very pretty town where most of the alpine ski events are taking place.
The area where the medals ceremonies take place is an enchanting part of the city. There is a castle in the plazza that used to be the home of Italian kings. And nearby is the ancient Roman entrance to the city.
The part of the city where the media is staying is very industrial. Not much to look at-you could say it's just the essentials! But we are so busy not much time is spent there.
Our workspace is next to the Palavela. That's the venue for short track speed skating and figure skating. We were really excited to find a great pizza place across the street for a break from the cafeteria food. It looked like a hole in the wall..but the food is great. And in true Utah fashion, our producer, Graydon, mixed up some fry sauce.
We are not sure how to say fry sauce in Italian yet ;-)
Ciao Samantha
