SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Utes picked up a couple of big in-state recruiting commitments on Monday.
Moses Folauhola, a 6-foot-1, 240-pound defensive end from Hunter, and Nua Poteki, a 6-foot-4, 280-pound offensive tackle from Brighton, have accepted scholarship offers and plan to sign letters of intent in February.
"I've just always liked them," Folauhola said of the Utes. "The opportunity came to commit to them and I did."
The addition of Folauhola and Poteki gives Utah nine early recruiting commitments for 2012. The others include defensive end Hunter Dimick (6-4, 250, Syracuse HS), quarterback Chase Hansen (6-2, 197, Lone Peak HS), defensive back Austin Lee (6-0, 185, Alta HS), wide receiver Delshawn McClellan (5-9, 165, Gahr HS, Calif.), offensive lineman Kiha Sai (6-4, 300, Kamehameha HS, Hawaii), defensive end Sione Tupouata (6-4, 255, Snow College) and quarterback Travis Wilson (6-6, 205, San Clemente HS, Calif.).
