(KSL News) -- A new report shows babies can experience severe withdrawal symptoms if their mothers take antidepressants during pregnancy.
A study out of Israel shows about a third of 60 infants whose moms took anti-depressants had high-pitched crying, tremors and disturbed sleep.
The mothers in the study had taken a specific class of anti-depressants called "selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors", which can cross the placenta.
Researchers say more studies are needed to determine the long-term effects of the drugs.
