Feb. 5--The Books Again used bookstore, run to benefit the Pueblo City-County Library District, has generated about $13,000 for the library since July.

Bub Benz, the book store's manager, said the store has earned a total of about $40,000 since it opened for business last summer. Of that, $13,000 has been given to the library district.

That doesn't include the rent the store pays to the library district, which owns the building at 622 S. Union Ave.

Books Again is run by the Friends of the Library, a library booster club that has long run a yearly used book sale to benefit the library.

The store sells books that have been donated and books that aren't needed by the library district. There are about 9,000 volumes of books on display, Benz said.

Benz said the store is always looking for donations of more books too. And that means just about any kind of book.

"We're looking for westerns, novels, collectables, paperbacks and southwestern," he said.

The store has a wide collection of books, including art, humor, religion, self-help, psychology, language, music and fiction, Benz said.

There are also books for younger readers.

"We've got about 1,500 children's books on display," he said, "and they're available for $1 apiece."

The store prices its other books at 25 percent of its cover price.

Benz said the store has done well and seems to attract more customers as time goes on.

"We continue to see between one and three new faces in here every day," he said. "We're very, very pleased with the way the community has accepted us."
