Adu is reportedly meeting with Benfica management, who will start play in the European Champions League in mid-August.
MLS and Benfica have agreed to a $2 million transfer fee for the 18-year-old forward and midfielder.
Now Adu and Benfica have until the end of August to complete the transfer.
