(NBC News) -- Inducing birth could sometimes be beneficial to both the mother and the baby.
Researchers in Australia reviewed 12 studies. They found full-term women were less likely to develop infections and fewer babies needed intensive care when labor was induced after their water broke.
Researchers say induced women were also more likely to be satisfied with their birth experience rather than waiting for labor to begin naturally.
