ELKHART, Ind., Jan 23, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- An Elkhart, Ind. woman has died in a Michigan hospital of burns suffered in a mysterious fire in a restaurant shed.
Barbara Pearson, 52, was burned so badly when found in the burning shed behind a Chinese restaurant Saturday night, she was unrecognizable, the Elkhart Truth reported.
Restaurant staff said the shed in Kalamazoo, Mich., apparently had been left unlocked, and there was flammable liquid inside but there was no apparent reason for Pearson to be in the shed, as she had no affiliation with the restaurant, the report said.
Her daughters told the newspaper that they would authorize the removal of life-support equipment from their mother, who died Sunday night.
Police and firefighters in Elkhart were appealing for information on the fire.
