OGDEN, Utah (AP) -- Freshman Loren Leath came off the bench to score 22 points to lead Sacramento State to a 73-66 win over Weber State Saturday night.
The Hornets (13-5, 4-0 Big Sky) won their fifth consecutive game, while the Wildcats dropped their fifth straight. Sacramento State has one seven of its last eight.
Alex Bausley scored 11 points and Justin Williams added 10 for the Hornets.
WSU's leading scorer, Coric Riggs, was held to zero first-half points. He finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds. David Patten led the Wildcats in scoring with 15.
Weber State (6-11, 0-4) led 20-19 after an 8-2 run with 6:28 remaining in the first half. Leath and Williams each scored a pair of baskets to finish the half and the Hornets led 27-24 at the break.
Sacramento State extended its lead to 10, 49-39, after Haron Hargrave converted a four-point play with 10:56 remaining. WSU pulled to within four twice, but Williams, who was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field and 2-for-2 from the free throw line, led the Hornets down the stretch.
The Wildcats failed in winning its first Big Sky Conference game despite four players in double-figures. Terrell Stovall (12) and Clint Burris (11) joined Patten and Riggs in double figure scoring. The Wildcats also had a better shooting percentage, 41 percent, than Sacramento State's 38 percent.
