Stockholm (dpa) - A commemorative stamp featuring legendary Swedish film actress Greta Garbo topped a poll of the most popular stamp 2005, the Swedish postal services said Wednesday.

Garbo, who would have turned 100 last September, garnered 32 per cent of the votes in the December 19-30 poll, the postal services said.

The second most popular stamp that featured a view over the world heritage site "The High Coast" in northern Sweden, picked up 6 per cent of the 6,653 eligible votes.

The winning Garbo stamp was based on a portrait of the actress from the 1932 movie "As You Desire Me".

Garbo, born Greta Gustafsson in humble circumstances in Stockholm, moved to Hollywood in 1925.

She died in April 1990. Her ashes are buried at the Skogskyrkogarden Cemetery in Stockholm, which is also listed as a world heritage site.
